Chanel Le Vernis Nail Polish Azure & Bel-Argus

chanel L'ete Papillon polish feature

It’s Mani Monday again!!  Today, I’m breaking out of the creamy / matte phase that I’ve been in lately, with these two GORGEOUS metallic polishes from Chanel’s L’ete Papillon Summer 2013 collection – Azur and Bel Argus!

Chanel Azure swatch

Chanel Azure (657) Le Vernis Nail Color is described as a “metallic blue-green”.  It is one of the more interesting polishes I’ve seen this entire summer, shifting from sea green to teal blue depending on the light.  It vaguely reminds me of Dior’s Samba (reviewed here) but Samba does not have the multi-hue property that Azure possesses.  Azure requires 2 coats to be completely opaque, and is really quite beautiful once applied.

Chanel Bel-Argus swatch

Chanel Bel-Argus (667) Le Vernis Nail Color is quite simply a metallic almost-electric blue.  I didn’t think I’d love it as much as Azure, but I was surprised by how gorgeous it looked on my tips (and it has that magical ability to make my hands look fairer!!).  It goes on sheer, but is completely opaque in 2 coats.

Overall thoughts

Azure and Bel-Argus are both exciting colors and so much fun to look at.  If I had to pick just one, I’d go for Bel-Argus, but I really love wearing them together… maybe even with a third added to the mix (I got my eyes on Taboo…reviewed here)!   However, I generally have a hard time with Chanel polishes… they start wearing off at the edges and chipping off within a day or two.  I even took them to a professional salon where I normally get my nails done to see if they’d last longer, but no luck.  Also, now that Dior and Guerlain have pampered me with flat brushes, I just can’t deal with these narrow bristles anymore.  So overall, I would say grab them if you’re still on the fence cos they’re limited edition, but bring them to a salon to get them applied to save yourself some headache, and be prepared to switch them up fairly soon!
